Thermo-mechanical simulations for optics
CSEM SA
CSEM is a privately held, R&D center established in 1984 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. From the beginning, CSEM has been committed to both applied and order-related R&D. This bridge function between economics and science is still a core aspect of the company, and CSEM has continuously adapted its research areas to the needs of industry.

Comsol offers the capability to develop multi-physics modeling based on thermo-mechanical simulations; thermo-mechanical analysis provide the basis to verify deformation impact on optical tolerances in a realistic thermal environment. Comsol also provides the possibility to define a GUI to make it a stand-alone software tool as a support for the Medical/Optical designer. An example of such a model is described in the reference about a STOP simulation multi-physics coupled with wave-optics.
